About Sydney Cortright & Sam Reese

Sydney is a California native with Montana roots. She picked up fly fishing by following in her late father’s footsteps, and this passion has brought her to some of the most beautiful backcountry gems. Officially hooked, she continues to learn new techniques across mountains and oceans and is happy to teach the basics to anyone who’s willing to go on an adventure.

Sam Reese is an Outdoorsman, Fly Fisherman, and Designer with almost two decades of experience fly tying, working in fly fishing stores, and fly fishing. Sam’s fishing, outdoors, and jewelry designs can be found on Instagram - @meltdown_fly

Objective

Co-hosted by The Mayfly Project and Usal Project, this urban fly fishing experience aims to foster community engagement through a shared passion for fly fishing. Offering participants the unique experience to fly fish for carp in Los Angeles’s local waters of MacArthur park. By bringing together diverse groups of anglers, we aspire to create lasting connections. Proceeds will go to the Mayfly project.

The Mayfly project is a nonprofit that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care. To learn more about the mayfly project please visit their website - themayflyproject.com
