Samantha currently lives in Los Angeles and has been oil painting for over a decade. Trained in classical oil painting techniques, her work is a study of light, color and texture. She uses a technique called alla prima painting, wherein the paint is applied wet and blended on the canvas. Each piece is completed within a few hours and allowed to settle as it dries, so the results can be unpredictable.
Samantha works full time as a writer focused on scientific research communication, but manages to fit in oil painting in her spare time. She aims to teach others how to develop their own practice with whatever time and skill level they possess.
