About Matias Barang

My name is Matias, founder of Häsi: Art is in Bread—a sourdough bakery based in Los Angeles. I started my business out of my home kitchen in 2018 baking my original Häsi loaf—wild fermented sourdough made with house milled grains, marbled blue (organic butterfly pea flower) and yellow (organic turmeric.) Since then, I can humbly say our business has grown further than I could have imagined. It’s been an incredible rollercoaster, adapting our business through Covid while developing our vision to Share the Loaf. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about. I can't wait to share what we do with you!

Objective

Learn how to handle sourdough like a true baker. In this workshop, we will review the lifecycle of sourdough, how to care for your starter, kneading dough + developing strong gluten networks, the foundations of active fermentation, scoring and baking. Join us at 5:30pm for drinks, bread and spreads as we warm up for our sourdough workshop. Feel free to snack as you shape a delicious loaf of your own from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Take home a finished loaf (baked by us) in addition to your dough, ready for a final cold proof and bake at home. We'll show you how to do it all.
