Grafting is an ancient horticultural technique that involves joining the tissues of two plants so they grow as one, often enhancing growth, resilience, and unique characteristics. In the world of cacti and succulents, grafting is particularly valuable for propagating rare species, improving drought resistance, and accelerating growth.
Join us at Brooklyn's very own neighborhood hydroponic farm for a special workshop as we explore both the artistry and biology behind this fascinating process. Workshop participants will leave with a godless chimera masterpiece of their own making. All supplies, including plant materials, tools, and guidance, will be provided.

Farm.One is a vertical farm that supplies unique microgreens, specialty herbs, edible flowers and premium salad greens to chefs, restaurants and consumers.
We are lucky to have a few grafting and Astrophytum masters teach us all about the tradition and science of grafting cacti and succulents. Whisker & Spine are NYC based cactus growers. Since 2018 they have been actively engaged in honing cultivation techniques for the East Coast climate and recently have taken on leadership roles within the New York Cactus and Succulent Society. They hold a particular appreciation for Mexican genera, growing these and many other species from seed. Their aim is to spread enthusiasm for cacti throughout the city and beyond. Zack Repko is one of the driving forces behind LESCSS, CSSA & an avid desert-bound traveller.
What's Included
All supplies will be provided, including a variety of plant materials such as cacti and succulent rootstocks and scions for grafting. Participants will have access to specialized tools, including grafting knives, scalpels, rubber bands, and grafting clips, ensuring precise and secure joins.
Our expert instructors will offer hands-on guidance, demonstrating different grafting techniques and sharing best practices for aftercare to ensure successful grafts. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, you'll leave with the knowledge and skills to continue grafting on your own—as well as your own grafted plant to take home!
