Botanical Painting & Meditation

Spend an afternoon learning botanical painting through the lens of meditation. Illustration can be a powerful way to connect with a subject– with a focus on process and mind-body connection, this workshop will guide you through actively seeing and painting a plant or mushroom. This practice can help you encourage artistic skill and invite a deeper curiosity into our connections with our more-than-human kin. All skill levels are welcome.

About

Renee is a Catskills-based designer, chef, and nature enthusiast with a passion for wild plants and fungi. Trained as both an architect and a chef, she brings a creative, interdisciplinary flair to everything she does—whether she’s crafting baskets from local plants, illustrating mushrooms in watercolor, or whipping up delicious meals from foraged ingredients. Renee teaches workshops on identifying, cooking with, and even weaving with plants and fungi growing in the Catskills. She’s also the co-author and illustrator of Befriending Fungi, a Pocket Guide (created with Catskill Fungi’s John Michelotti), a visual guide for beginners who want to learn about mushrooms.
