About Sophia Kane

With a diverse background rooted in sustainable food practices, Sophia Kane was raised on a farm cultivating avocados and mushrooms. Sophia's early connection to the land instilled a deep appreciation for locally sourced ingredients. After moving to Los Angeles, she honed her skills in whole animal butchering at Standings, learning the art of butchery. Her passion for farm-to-table initiatives led her to work on produce sourcing under Sam Rogers for the Gjelina group, where she furthered her commitment to supporting local farmers. Sophia's journey culminated as the current Product Manager of Great White and Gran Blanco, where she expanded their farm-to-table program, bridging the gap between the farmers' market and butchery and championing sustainable food practices that bring communities closer to their sources of nourishment.

Objective

In this community cookout, participants will experience a one of a kind event that aims to teach the true meaning and beauty behind farm to table living. Hosted at the Zuma Canyon Orchard Farm, a regenerative farm in the breathtaking foothills of Malibu, join us as we spotlight and share the lifespan connection to Zuma Canyon's farm raised pig.

Following the butchery workshop, participants will have the chance to celebrate with us by heading to the grassy lawn for happy hour drinks. They will have the opportunity to witness an open fire cookout by Sophia and her companions. Sophia will utilize locally sourced ingredients and produce to demonstrate how to cook the various cuts of meat that she skillfully prepared earlier.

After that, we will celebrate the pig's journey from farm to table with a beautiful afternoon lunch.
