About Sydney Cortright

Sydney is a California native with Montana roots. She picked up fly fishing by following in her late father’s footsteps, and this passion has brought her to some of the most beautiful backcountry gems. Officially hooked ;) she continues to learn new techniques across mountains and oceans and is happy to teach the basics to anyone who’s willing to go on an adventure.

Objective

This intro to fly fishing class provides a foundation for fishing both streams and lakes, and is taught with the hopes of applying the newly learned skills in the field at a later date. We will cover the basics of fly rods, knot tying, dry flies, trout identification, reading water, and casting techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to try both classic rod & reel setups as well as minimalist tenkara setup (no reel). This workshop is a pre-requisite to our Fly Fishing Field Day and Fly Fishing Camp Trips.
