About Alyssa Benjamin

Join back to nature guide Alyssa Benjamin on a forest therapy walk and cultivate an embodied, sensory relationship with the living world. In this immersive experience, you’ll connect with yourself, each other, and the more-than-human world as your senses become a pathway for building deeper relationships with the plants, animals and beings around you.

Objective

Forest therapy, inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku (or forest bathing), helps reduce stress and anxiety, generate feelings of awe and wonder, and boost your immune system. But it’s not just what we get from nature, it’s about what we give. In developing a personal and authentic relationship with the natural world through forest therapy, we can’t help but feel reciprocity, kinship and reverence for every living thing on this earth. This walk is not about physical exertion, but about slowing down enough so that your nervous system can relax into embodied presence.

  • An introduction to the land and the history/practice/process of forest therapy.
  • A sensory meditation to bring us into embodied awareness.
  • A series of invitations that encourage mindful exploration and interaction with the living world (nature).
  • A closing ceremony and connection circle featuring tea made from foraged plants.
