About Sydney Cortright

Sydney is a California native with Montana roots. She picked up fly fishing by following in her late father’s footsteps, and this passion has brought her to some of the most beautiful backcountry gems. Officially hooked, she continues to learn new techniques across mountains and oceans and is happy to teach the basics to anyone who’s willing to go on an adventure.

Objective

Experience fly fishing the Kern River on this guided day trip as we fish for the native Kern River rainbow trout. Hiking will be slow and mild as we meander up the river for different fishing spots with not much elevation gain.

Itinerary

The hike along the river will vary between 4-6 miles out and back as we mozy up and down the river to fish. There will be minimal elevation gain and it is not strenuous.

There are multiple camping options available in the area if you would like to camp.

___________

Sydney will be camped at the dispersed camping site - Bush Creek Campground - from Friday evening to Sunday. If you would also like to camp & hang out please join her! Arriving the night before or spending the night after your selected fishing time could make your trip a little easier, since it is a far drive.

While experienced and WFA certified, Sydney Cortright is not a professional guide but an outdoor enthusiast. She will make every effort to share her knowledge, provide assistance, and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. She will carry essentials such as a group first aid kit and satellite communicator which enables contact with first responders in case of an emergency. However, ultimate responsibility for your safety and well-being rests with you. Each participant must be prepared for the physical demands of the trip, carry their own gear and supplies, and be able to make informed decisions in a wilderness setting. Official meet-up location and further event details to be sent out upon ticket confirmation.
