About Adam Baz and Samantha Russell

Adam Baz (Hawk On Hand) is a bird biologist and falconer who has spent 15 years studying and conserving birds throughout the western US. His work emphasizes protecting wild bird communities in urban environments. Samantha Russell is a science writer, artist, and gardener who is passionate about creating native plant habitat for birds and pollinators.

Objective

This birdwatching hike will teach you the fundamentals of bird identification by both sight and sound. You will learn about the biology, songs, and behavior of all the birds we see. We will practice how to move through spaces in a way that does not scare or disturb wildlife, and we'll spend time observing the beautiful and hidden world of birds that occupy LA's green spaces. High-end binoculars are included with ticket to use during the event.
