Compton Community Garden is a lush urban farm plot in the south central Los Angeles that grows organic foods year round for their local community. CCG's goal is to explore solutions and alternatives for a better future through a practice of organic urban farming, cultural exchange, ecological discourse, and social reform.
In collaboration with the garden, we teamed up with LA based carpenter Alex David to learn how to build and plant garden boxes using only hammer, nails, and wood. Our Instructor Alex demonstrated how to assemble the 4x4x2 garden boxes, while the CCG team taught us the in and outs of properly planting seeds.
Using only reclaimed wood from local job sites, Our Usal community worked together to build three sustainable garden boxes for Compton Community Garden, all while learning straightforward building practices.
