About Jules Marsh

Jules (@ kelpful_ca) is a seaweed educator, naturalist, private chef, stand-up comedian, jack of all trades, and even a mom. Her biggest passions include connecting with others and sharing lessons of the Earth and how humans can live more harmoniously and be less extractive.

Objective

A weekend-long retreat in Morro Bay, CA where you’ll explore the tide pools, learn all about seaweed, enjoy a meal featuring seaweed, and learn all about the healing power of the ocean. You’ll leave with a greater sense of ocean stewardship!

Itinerary

Friday, June 19th

- Arrival Friday afternoon/evening, introductions, setup camp, and sleep

Saturday, June 20nd

- Morning coffee and light breakfast bites provided by Jules at camp

- Seaweed Foraging Tour & Tide Pool Exploration at Estero Bluffs Shipwreck

- Seaweed Workshop at Cayucos Makers

- Optional breathwork and cold plunge with the Morro Bay Odder Club at Coleman Beach in the bay

- Free time explore Morro Bay, the Rock, the Embarcadero

- Dinner feast focusing on seaweed and seafood (gluten and dairy-free, with vegan options available too)

Sunday, June 21st

- Morning group hike

- Pack up and head home

What to bring

  • All camping gear (Refer to REI Camping Pack List)
  • Food for Friday Dinner, Saturday Lunch, and Sunday Breakfast
  • Water shoes or sandals for Tide Pool Exploration
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Cooler if you want to take seaweed home

Requirements

- Ability to tent-camp for 2 nights at a campground.

- Capacity to navigate and traverse slippery terrain.
